After completing the intial assessment and extraction, the drying process is put into place.
Oversimplifying, the traditional drying process involves evaporation of affected building components accomplished by high velocity laminar and axial fans coupled with dehumidification by any of three primary types of dehumidifiers, conventional refrigerant, low-grain refrigerant, and desiccant. 877QuicDry (877-784-2379) utilizes all three types depending upon the circumstances.
Heat drying systems have also gained popularity over the past few years. Although the documented science behind heat drying is centuries old, the process has only recently gained enough popularity to warrant commercialization of the heat drying systems. These systems utilize high heat and air movement to force trapped water and moisture from within building structures. The primary drawbacks with heat drying is the uninhabitable environment it creates and the need to take special precautions with plants, pets, candles, and other heat vulnerable items. It is adeal however for unoccupied structures or structures that would not otherwise be occupiable regardless of the drying system utilized. 1-877Quic Dry utilizes heat drying on projects where the application is proper.
Drying can also be accomplished with fans and no additional equipment when environmental conditions are optimal and a structure can be left open without fear of theft or vandalism. Unfortunately, the greater Houston and Galveston area (the Gulf Coast in general) only have a handfull of days each year that are conducive to this style of drying. The relative humidity is simply too high most of the time. This style of drying is referred to as open drying.
